About the museum
The core of the village museum comes from two men of Hirschegg, Erich Kiedl and Georg Dirnberger, who passionately collected old objects to save them from destruction. When the collections filled their private homes, the idea of a museum arose. The parish priest and the parish council made the old, empty Pfarrstadel available; the former horse stable became a museum room.
On display are implements, tools and household items from farm life, testimonies of old crafts and of winter sports. These include the well-known Hirschegg loden, a collection of cowbells and skis with leather strap bindings. A picture collection with views of old farms and buildings from the municipal area complements the objects. The museum is repeatedly expanded with new pieces.
