About the museum
The museum is part of the Das Salvator estate (Iris Porsche Landhotel) in St. Salvator, a former ironworks village in the Metnitz valley that now belongs to the town of Friesach. The car enthusiast Gerhard Porsche, from the well-known family, has converted a former episcopal hunting lodge and its old inn there into a country hotel and prepared a restored barn right next to it for his vehicle collection.
On display is a wide-ranging collection of classic cars from prestigious marques, including Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Porsche, more than 30 restored motorcycles and numerous Vespas. In addition there are about 20 historic agricultural machines and about 15 racing vehicles, including a rare Porsche 904, a Red Bull Formula 1 car and a Porsche 906 that Jochen Rindt is said to have driven. The museum can be visited only by prior arrangement by telephone.
