About the museum
The Frühmesshaus in Bartholomäberg was built in the Baroque period and, as an architectural monument, shapes the village centre. For centuries the Frühmesser was the second priest in the village and was responsible, among other things, for reading the early morning mass. The building lies above the valley and offers a wide panoramic view.
Since 2009 the building has housed a museum. Bartholomäberg was for a long time the main village of the Montafon; the historical roots of the settlement of the valley lie here, as the large church also testifies. The exhibitions combine the early Baroque architecture with the archaeological prehistory of the region; one focus is the Bronze and Iron Ages and early mining, whose beginnings go back to Celtic times.
The museum is one of the Montafon Museums of the Gemeindeverband Stand Montafon. Changing exhibitions take up themes from the valley and link to the focus areas of the other Montafon museums.
