About the museum
The sculpture house in Müllegg near Bad Gams is a typical early house of western Styria; the construction year 1795 is carved into the main beam (Haupttram). The sculptor Hortensia Fussy acquired the building in 2014, had it carefully revitalised and opened it on 2 May 2015 as an exhibition house for her own work. In 2018 the roof was re-covered with the original beaver-tail tiles.
In six rooms on three floors as well as in the surrounding park, the house shows sculptures in bronze and stone. The focus is on the human figure, which Hortensia reduces to a simple, clear form. The rooms with historic furnishings include the stucco room with bronze figures and the beam room (Tramzimmer) with its old central beam.
In front of the entrance stands the "Große Form Daria" on a tall plinth; in the garden there are further display areas, for example for the bronze cast of "Hommage à Courbet" and "Große Einsamkeit".
