Technisches Eisenbahnmuseum Lieboch

About the museum

The Technical Railway Museum Lieboch was set up by the market municipality of Lieboch together with the Graz-Köflacher Bahn (GKB) and the Steirische Eisenbahnfreunde (StEF) in the former engine shed at Lieboch station. Because Lieboch was an important junction of the GKB, the vacant facility lent itself to a museum; the municipality had the engine shed restored, and the museum opened in September 2004.

Since then Lieboch has been home to the StEF association and to historic vehicles of the StEF and the GKB. On display are, among others, steam locomotive 671 from 1860, steam locomotive 56.3115 from 1914 and several railcars; the railcar VT 10.02 from 1953 is in working order and is used for special excursions.

The museum is run by volunteers and, in addition to visits during opening hours, offers guided tours by arrangement, events and special trips, for example for the annual model exchange.

Getting there & parking

For the model exchange on 31 October 2026, the railcar VT 10.02 runs as a special train Graz Hbf – Lieboch – Graz Hbf (return trip €20, children aged 6–16 €8, StEF members €17, admission included).
