About the museum
The Hohenzeller Heimathaus has been housed in the parish house of Hohenzell since 1994. When the former stable building was converted into a parish hall in 1999, the attic was divided by partition walls and turned into a large exhibition hall, the so-called Hohe Diele. The museum opened in 2001 together with the new parish hall. The site also includes the Kaplanstöckl and the Troadkasten (grain storehouse).
The collection shows farm work life: field work, washday on the farm, milk and hemp processing, a whetting area for scythes, and tools for working the soil. There are also old work tools, pictures, pilgrimage souvenirs and objects of popular piety, as well as striking finds from the surrounding area. The grain storehouse holds an old workshop and a documentation on beekeeping.
The museum is run by the Verein Hohenzeller Heimathaus (association). Visits are possible by telephone appointment.
