About the museum
The impetus for the museum came from master clockmaker Eduard Gruber, who on 6 May 2003 founded a joint local history association for Vöcklamarkt, Pfaffing and Fornach. With the support of a generous sponsor and a house lent free of charge, the Moserhaus, the young association was able to use rooms from 2006. On 6 December 2008 the Clockmaking Craft Museum and the Heimatstube (local history room) were officially opened.
In 2011, four years of excavations of Roman finds in the Vöckla valley began, carried out jointly with the University of Vienna. After the municipality acquired the Stögerhaus, the museum moved there and was opened for a second time at the new location on 5 September 2015. In 2016 a shop in the Biedermeier style was added; since then Anton Durchner has been chairman of the museum association.
Today the house sees itself as a museum with several exhibitions: it shows the clockmaker's craft with a workshop bench, tools and clock movements, the regional history of the Hausruckviertel, traces of the Romans in Noricum, a historic grocer's shop and period furniture from the imperial era. In 2022 ten French Comptoise clocks were added as a permanent loan, and in 2023 the clock museum was expanded.
