About the museum

The Manhay History 44 Museum is located in Grandmenil, in the municipality of Manhay, at the heart of the sector where the fighting of the Battle of the Bulge raged in December 1944 and January 1945. It tells the story of these clashes in the Manhay, Lierneux and Erezée region, under the subtitle “La Bataille des Carrefours” (The Battle of the Crossroads).

The rooms display showcases devoted to the 2nd SS “Das Reich” Division, the 75th US Infantry Division, the 3rd Armored Division, the Volksgrenadiers and an American pilot, as well as a mortar room with a German 80 mm mortar and an American 81 mm mortar. The museum also covers the story of the “Trou du Loup” and that of the B-24 bomber “King Size”. A documentary with rare footage of the region completes the visit.

Each year the village of Grandmenil hosts historical reenactments organised by the association Ardennes History Remember; the 2026 edition is planned for 11 to 13 December. The Panther G tank at Grandmenil is due to be restored in 2026-2027.
