About the museum
The Mini Museum Mussenzele is on the edge of Haaltert, at the same address as B&B Mussenzele. The idea arose during the opening of that B&B, when the alderman for culture first spoke of a follow-up project, the museum then still called 3M. The museum was solemnly opened on 29 April 2011.
The abbreviation 3M had to be dropped quickly after the American company with the same name objected. The museum therefore still bears its full name, Mini Museum Mussenzele. Schools, associations and walkers discovered the museum, and after the forced closure during the coronavirus period the initiative received a new boost, also with help from Erfgoedcel Denderland, which cleaned, archived and photographed the Religion collection.
The collections are organised around five themes, which are recreated in the exhibition space as scenes from the 1940s to around 1960: work and life on the street, leisure, the school, the family and religion. During the guided tour, visitors are often shown the ingenuity of our ancestors.
