Musée bruxellois du Moulin et de l'Alimentation

Museum in the former windmill of Evere, at the heart of a listed park: a permanent space on milling and annual exhibitions on food.

Opening hoursAdmission €5

About the museum

The museum occupies the former windmill of Evere, built in the 19th century. Unlike most Brussels mills, which were made of wood and turned as a whole, this one is a brick tower mill of conical shape: only the cap, the roof, could turn. The mill, its garden and its paved avenue have been listed since 1990 and form a green space in the middle of the municipality.

After restoration works, the museum opened in September 2008. A few rooms in the building recall the history of the mill and of milling. Each year the museum also presents a temporary exhibition on food, accompanied by guided tours, cooking workshops and other activities for individual visitors, families and groups.

In the park there is also a community bread oven, built together with local residents. Construction began in August 2023 at the initiative of the Fournil de l'Hof ter Musschen, in collaboration with the municipality of Evere, and the oven was inaugurated on 17 May 2025; you can bake your own bread there and learn traditional baking.
