About the museum
The Heemkundig en Ambachtelijk Museum Zoe was Alleke, which in the local dialect roughly means “so it was Alken”, is a regional museum in a farmstead on the Alkerstraat. The collection shows household objects, tools and farm implements from the early twentieth century. The founder of the museum is Theo Cosemans; in 2006 the museum reopened.
The museum lets visitors discover the rural and craft life of earlier generations. Anyone who compares today's way of life with that of two or three generations ago will see how distant that past seems. Young people get to know a world they have never seen, while older visitors recognise their own world in it. Occasionally there are also small temporary exhibitions and events on local history.
