About the museum
The exhibition on the history of railway transport was created in 2014 within the DY-THA rail project of the Svazek obcí Železnice Kostelec – Slavonice (association of municipalities), in the railway depot building by the Telč station. It maps the history of railway transport in the Czech Republic and in Austria, and presents in detail the history of the line Kostelec u Jihlavy – Slavonice – Fratres – Waldkirchen – Waidhofen an der Thaya.
On display are unique railway cars that once ran on local lines. The exhibition also includes information panels on the history and present of the line, with period photographs, technical drawings and sketches, and a range of objects and technical equipment connected with the railway and its history.
The exhibition is run by the town of Telč in cooperation with the Společnost telčské místní dráhy, z. s. (Telč Local Railway Society), whose members look after it. The exhibition also sells a publication by Richard Cíla on the anniversaries of local railways in Lower Austria and south-west Moravia.
