About the museum
The fire-fighting museum in Kočí was founded in 2002 by enthusiasts from the fire-fighting world who wanted to save equipment, uniforms and armaments that were being retired from fire brigades in the surrounding area. The aim of the museum is to preserve for future generations the equipment and documents relating to the development of fire protection since its beginnings in the 19th century.
In 2015 the museum obtained new premises with more than 524 m² of covered exhibition space, plus further adjoining areas that allow the exhibition to be extended. The collection includes historic and modern fire vehicles, fire pumps and trailers, but also smaller items such as helmets, axes, hoses and uniforms. It also includes fire-brigade dress uniforms and work clothing from many countries of the world.
The exhibition is divided by period and type of equipment: inter-war equipment from 1914–1945, post-war equipment, fire trailers and technical equipment, and uniforms and equipment. The museum is operated by the association Hasičské muzeum Kočí.
