About the museum

The Labyrinth beneath the Zelný trh is an almost kilometre-long network of medieval passages and cellars about eight metres beneath the Brno square. The cellars were built beneath the houses on the Zelný trh, which is mentioned from the beginning of the 13th century, and served to store food and goods.

The complex was adapted in 2009 and opened to the public in 2011. The tour shows how food was stored in the past and what people used for light. It includes replicas of an alchemist’s laboratory, a medieval tavern and a torture chamber, as well as archaeological finds.

The Labyrinth is one of the places of the Brno Underground run by TIC BRNO. Together with the Ossuary at St James, the Sklep pod Novou radnicí and the Vodojemy Žlutý kopec, it forms the city’s range of underground tours.

Holders of BRNOPAS get a 30% discount. At the ticket office a 10% discount can be claimed with a Senior Pass or Family Pass, or with a season ticket or one-day ticket for IDS JMK. When visiting several objects of the Brno Underground, discounts apply: 2 objects 10%, 3 objects 15%, 4 objects 20%. Tickets can be bought online or on site.
