About the museum
The museum exhibition is part of the Regional Information Centre Keltské oppidum Závist in Dolní Břežany, which is run by the municipality. It presents the rich history of settlement in the local landscape from prehistoric times to the present. Key discoveries were made by archaeological excavations on the Hradiště hill in the Závist and Šance area, so the exhibition also explains the methods of archaeological work.
The exhibition takes visitors through time and space at a crossroads of long-distance routes. Four display columns present soil and agriculture, forest and hunting, water and the river Vltava, and bees. On display are replicas of finds from Závist from the 1st and 2nd centuries BC, such as jewellery, tools and building components, as well as originals lent by the Archaeological Institute. Many of them were found during the construction of the laser centres.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is the ZÁVIST CAVE device, which projects historical scenes in 3D space. It also includes a virtual walk through parts of the oppidum using HTC Vive glasses and a touch-screen interactive model of the hillfort. The exhibition is complemented by two outdoor walking trails and the app “Oppidum Zavist”.
