About the museum
The Muzeum historických vozů BMW grew out of the veteran car collection of the Vránek family, owners of the Brno company Renocar, which specialises in restoring and selling BMW cars. The founder, Miloš Vránek, first encountered the brand in 1968, when he bought a BMW 326 cabriolet from the 1930s. He later brought his sons Pavel and Miloš into the business, and the company became a family enterprise.
The museum is housed in the so-called Old Hall (Stará hala) on Řípská Street in the Slatina district of Brno. Its reconstruction was completed in 2017, and the architect Michal Říčný and his son Jan were involved in its design. The realisation of the museum idea was taken over by Pavel Vránek.
The collection maps the entire history of the brand. It includes the oldest model produced under the BMW name, the Dixi from 1928, as well as cars from the period before the Second World War. On display are polished pieces, cars under restoration and vehicles in original condition, supplemented by interesting components and fragments from the history of motoring. According to the operator, it is the second largest museum of BMW cars in Europe after the museum at the brand’s headquarters in Munich. The exhibition is changed regularly.
