About the museum
The museum grew out of an ethnographic exhibition held in Netolice in 1893. The town set up the municipal museum in 1913 in rooms of the town hall. A separate collection came from JUDr. Otakar Kudrna, mayor, lawyer and collector, who in his will of 1940 left the Renaissance house on the square and his extensive private collection to a foundation.
In 1947 the two museums were merged, and the museum has been housed in Kudrna's house on Mírové náměstí ever since. After the foundation was nationalised, the property passed to the town of Netolice, which is today the founder. Since 1990 the museum has borne the name of its founder.
The current exhibition Nahlédnutí do minulosti Netolic opened on 1 May 2017. It shows the history of the town from its first mention in 981, archaeological finds, crafts, associations and notable natives, including the pond keeper Štěpánek Netolický. The collections include the second-largest postcard collection in Bohemia (about 170,000 items), folk embroidery, furniture, pipes, weapons, glass, porcelain and a picture of Karlštejn castle by Karel Hynek Mácha.
