About the museum
The Harrachov vein-type deposit has been known since the mid-18th century, and its main fill consists of fluorite, barite, galena and quartz. Prospecting began in 1947, and in 1957 the deposit was handed over for mining. The mine had a blind shaft and seven levels, and during its operation almost 21.5 km of galleries were driven. Mining was ended as unprofitable on 30 September 1992.
The mining museum and the show adit opened in March 2003 at the level of the former adit floor. The museum displays mineral samples from fluorite deposits, mining tools and equipment, and maps and photographs documenting work at the deposit. The site belongs to the company I. Krkonošská důlní s.r.o.
