About the museum
The Museum of Cheap Wines was established in 2003 as a private exhibition in the cellars of the Old Walloon Cottage (Stara Chata Walońska) at ul. Kołłątaja in Szklarska Poręba. The building is associated with the Sudeten Walloon Brotherhood and the traditions of the treasure hunters of the mountains, and on its ground floor a mineral exhibition can be seen free of charge.
The cellars show more than a hundred bottles of cheap wines and several hundred labels. The exhibition aims to show the aesthetics and names associated with such drinks. Part of the collection was donated by the actor and satirist Stefan Friedmann.
Visiting the underground part is paid and takes a short time; the whole visit to the cottage can be combined with the mineral exhibition and the story of the Walloons.
