About the museum
The château at Police near Jemnice is a Gothic-Renaissance château that ranks among the most important buildings of its style in the Vysočina region and, according to experts, in the Czech Republic. The earliest mention of the site dates from 1358. In the 16th century the Tavíkovský family of Tavíkovice rebuilt the fortified house into a château; in the 17th and 18th centuries the Berchtold family of Uherčice was involved in its history, in the 19th century the Ségur family, and later the Wražda family of Kunvald.
The château was confiscated in 1945, and since 1996 it has been owned by the municipality of Police. It was first opened to the public on 1 August 2005, and since then it has been accessible in summer.
The guided tour lasts about 45 minutes and leads, among other things, past stucco ceilings, parts of the original furnishings and an 18th-century chapel; you can also climb the five-storey château tower separately. The château also houses the Muzeum RAF, the Muzeum Waldemara Matušky and the Muzeum historických motorek, each with its own admission fee.
