About the museum

The Zubrnice Railway Museum is housed in the station at Zubrnice-Týniště on the local line Velké Březno – Lovečkovice – Verneřice – Úštěk horní nádraží (LGWA), which was built in 1890. Later operation on the line was discontinued, and today tourist historic trains run here. The museum is run by the association Zubrnická museální železnice.

The stylised station building recalls pre-war and post-war films, for example Přednosta stanice (The Stationmaster). Visitors can see a period waiting room and a traffic office. In the wooden part of the building, the history of the local line is described, with station drawings and a series of photographs from its construction to the present day.

In another building there is an exhibition of railway track inspection vehicles, from hand-operated to motorised ones, including the Tatra Dm6 passenger inspection vehicle known from the film Ostře sledované vlaky and a Hungarian inspection vehicle from the film Rebelové. Further exhibitions are housed in covered railway wagons and are devoted to light on the railway and to signalling equipment. Behind the building there are seating areas and play equipment for children.
