About the museum

Danmarks Traktormuseum is located in Eskilstrup on Falster in a striking factory and warehouse building from 1918 that originally served as a seed-cleaning plant. After the building had stood empty for a few years, the then Nørre Alslev municipality took it over in 1981. In 1986 the tractor and engine museum moved in and was officially opened on May 12, 1988; at first it was called Lolland-Falsters Traktor- og Motormuseum.

The foundation was the collection of the brothers Bent and Knud Nielsen with 38 tractors and a number of engines. Since then the holdings have grown considerably: today they comprise up to 230 tractors from the early days of the tractor to about 1970, a large portion of which are displayed on several floors, as well as around 100 mostly stationary engines with many Danish makes.

The main focuses are Bukh, Bolinder-Munktell, Volvo, International, and Ferguson; among the rarities are an All-Work and an International Mogul from around 1917, a Fordson with a wood gas generator from 1935, and a portable steam engine from 1880. There are also collections of agricultural implements, manuals, and spare parts catalogs, as well as a complete collection of the engines and sprayers made by Sigvardt of Orehoved.

In 2002 a workshop in the style of the museum building was created with grant funding; volunteers maintain the vehicles there, and it also serves as exhibition space. A friends' association supports the museum.
