About the museum

Huset for Kunst og Design (HFKD) is an art hall for Danish and international contemporary art in Holstebro. It uses the building of the former Jens Nielsen og Olivia Holm-Møller Museum, designed by the architects Inger and Johannes Exner in 1971. After that museum was given up in 2014 as a separate department of Holstebro Kunstmuseum, the building was converted into an exhibition hall.

It is run by the independent institution Dansk Talentakademi, whose Art & Design study line also works in the building. The art hall has no collection of its own but shows changing exhibitions by professional artists and designers, partly in dialogue with young creatives and students of the academy, as well as art films and events.

In 2024 the rooms were modernized with support from the Færchfonden: a cinema room received better acoustics and lighting, the café and art shop were redesigned and the four exhibition rooms were refurnished. Admission is free.
