About the museum
The Alutaguse National Park visitor centre is in the village of Kauksi, in a place with a long tradition of beach recreation on the northern shore of Lake Peipus. The centre is the southern gate of the national park: before setting off on a hike you can learn about the values of the park and its visiting opportunities. The complex consists of several buildings, and two of them house permanent exhibitions.
In the courtyard of the centre there are five illuminated information boards about the national park and the recreation area of the northern shore of Lake Peipus. About 300 metres away, behind the beach pine forest, begins the sandy beach of Lake Peipus.
