About the museum
The sculptor Amandus Adamson bought a plot in Paldiski in 1896 to build a dwelling house and a summer studio. The summer studio was completed in 1899, and Adamson first used it during the summer months for modelling smaller sculptures and painting. He moved to Paldiski permanently with his family in 1918 and died in his home in 1929.
After the Second World War the family used the summer studio as a dwelling, because the dwelling house had been burned down in 1944. Adamson’s youngest daughter gave the house to the Estonian state in 2005, and it became a branch of the Harju County Museum. The restored house was solemnly opened on 12 November 2010 and has been open to visitors since 13 November 2010.
The studio museum presents the life and work of the internationally known sculptor and organises exhibitions and events by contemporary artists.
