About the museum

The Mati Undi muuseum is located in Kadriorg, in the house where the writer Mati Unt (1944–2005) lived from 1995 to 2005. Unt entered Estonian literature in 1963 with the novel “Hüvasti, kollane kass”, and as writer and director he was a renewer of Estonian cultural life in the 1960s and 1970s. The museum covers both his time in the Mustamäe salon and the years he lived in Kadriorg.

The museum holds an extensive Mati Unt archive: documents, books, manuscripts and photographs, many of which are also on display. The new permanent exhibition on the ground floor of the house was created by curator Maarja Vaino and the design studio MOTOR OÜ. The museum is run by the Tallinna Kirjanduskeskus (Tallinn Literature Centre).
