About the museum
The Ristema talu muuseum was founded by the farmer and local history researcher Evald Rennik (1911–1983), who collected objects, documents and stories and set up a museum in one room of the threshing-barn undercroft of the farm. After his death the museum was closed to visitors, and many objects were gathered into the attic of the threshing barn. In 2018 it reopened as the community museum of Mõnuste village, run by the MTÜ Ristema Talu Muuseum.
The collection includes tools donated by local residents, letters, postcards, school exercise books, herding diaries, handicrafts and documents from the creation of collective farms. The exhibition is divided into four parts: love letters, advertisements, old photographs and embroidery.
