About the museum
The museum operates in a cone-drying kiln almost a hundred years old, where the original kilns and drying equipment from 1928 have been preserved. RMK renovated the building in 2008. The permanent exhibition explains why cones were collected, how they were dried and how the seeds of forest trees were stored.
The cone-drying kiln is located on the edge of the longest hummock ridge in Estonia, the Mõdriku–Roela hummock ridge, where primeval forest grows. The museum’s work is organised by RMK in cooperation with Vinni rural municipality and the MTÜ Roela Kodukant. In summer the RMK information point is open, where you can get information about the hiking trails in the area.
