About the museum
The museum is located in Rõude village, in a building originally built for the Rõude primary school and kindergarten. The collecting of items began in 2005 with the Sepa, Laose and Uuetoa farms, and later exhibits were added from many farms of Martna rural municipality.
The museum has displays of old artefacts, photographs, household appliances and handicrafts; part of the exhibition presents the former Kasari collective farm. The displays give an overview of life in Martna parish and in the villages around Rõude.
Workshops are held to introduce handicrafts; in the museum you can roll cloth, weave, wind yarn on a winder and skein it on a reel. The museum takes part in the annual Museum Night; a lottery and a sale of handicrafts are organised.
