About the museum
The Vormsi talumuuseum is a restored typical farm of the coastal Swedes of Vormsi from the time before the Second World War, together with its outbuildings. The Pearse farm is located in Sviby village, about a kilometre from Hullo harbour. The farm has been restored on the basis of old photographs, written sources and the memories of former residents.
Visitors see renovated buildings with thatched roofs, many household tools and clothes, and photo exhibitions on the everyday life of Vormsi and other coastal Swedish areas. The staff heat a working traditional smoke sauna on some Saturdays. On carpet weaving looms visitors can try weaving.
The museum shop sells Vormsi handicrafts, souvenirs and books about the island. The yard and the renovated barn hall can be rented outside opening hours for events for up to 60 people.
