About the museum
Keisarinmaja is an ornate hunting lodge on Aavasaksanvaara, and it is considered Lapland's oldest tourist building. It was completed in the 1880s; its construction began in anticipation of a visit by the Russian Emperor Alexander II. The visit never took place.
The building is protected and is located in the Aavasaksa Crown Park, which also has the Aavasaksa Pavilion with its café. In summer, Keisarinmaja operates as a museum.
