About the museum
The Mannerheim-museo (Mannerheim Museum) is the former home of Marshal of Finland Gustaf Mannerheim on Kalliolinnantie in the Kaivopuisto area of Helsinki. Mannerheim lived in the white villa from 1924 to 1951. The museum presents the marshal’s home and the turning points of Finnish history; its collections include a cultural-historical object collection, a library and an archive.
The permanent exhibition shows the home’s authentic interiors in their early 1940s appearance. Most of the furniture in the rooms is original. Three rooms on the upper floor are different: they house the medal room, a space for changing exhibitions and the museum shop.
The museum has been thoroughly restored, and during the renovation the home was returned to its history with respect. Every year the museum hosts a special exhibition as well as guided tours, discussion evenings and seminars. Recurring public events are held on Independence Day, 6 December, and on Mannerheim’s birthday, 4 June.
