About the museum
The Opiskelijakulttuurimuseo is the only museum in Finland so far that presents student life and culture exclusively. It is maintained by the Aalto University Student Union and run on a voluntary basis. The museum is located in the basement of Jämeräntaipale in Otaniemi. For its first 60 years the museum operated under the name Polyteekkarimuseo.
The museum was renewed in the early 2020s, when its activities and exhibition collection were expanded to cover the student cultures of the whole Aalto community, that is, technology, business and art. The permanent exhibition focuses on art and music, events, publications, clothing and accessories, sport, housing and university campuses, and the traditions typical of student cultures.
The student union’s art collection is also shown in the museum’s exhibition collections. The most striking object in the collections is the museum car, a Marmon E-75 Speedster.
