About the museum

The Turku Car Museum (Turun Automuseo) is the one-man collection of Reino Rosten. Rosten’s interest in cars began at the age of 16 with a Mercedes from 1939. The hall was built in its present location in the 1980s, when the car collection had outgrown its earlier premises. Ticket sales were brisk in the early years, but visitor numbers fell during the recession of the early 1990s, and since then the museum has been open only by arrangement. Some cars have been sold.

The collection includes a dozen or so cars, among them a silver Rolls-Royce, which is registered as a museum vehicle and is fully roadworthy. There are also many two-wheelers, from old bicycles onwards, and a few tractors. The oldest vehicle dates from 1928, and almost all of them are roadworthy. The hall also works as a workshop: some vehicles are finished, some are in progress and some are waiting for restoration.

For navigation, it is best to enter the address Rihkontie 2, because the official address may lead to the wrong place. From the direction of Turku, the route runs via Orikedo, past the Metsämäki trotting track.
