About the museum

Tuupalan museo is a house museum in Tuupala, Kuhmo, which opened to the public in June 1975. The museum presents the everyday life and residents of the Tuupala farmhouse from the late 19th century until the 1960s. The farm was already cultivated in the 17th century by the Tuupainen family, after whom the house is named.

The museum rooms have been kept in as authentic a condition as possible. On the museum grounds the paths are grassy areas, and the buildings have stairs. The museum is run by Kuhmon museopalvelut (Kuhmo Museum Services). Items and photographs can be donated to the museum, where they are stored in the local heritage archive.
