About the museum

Château La Coste is a wine estate in Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, about twenty minutes from Aix-en-Provence. It combines vineyards farmed organically and biodynamically, hotels, restaurants and a contemporary art centre.

The heart of the visit is the Parcours Art et Architecture, a walk of around 4 km through the hills, vineyards, woods and olive groves of the estate. Each invited artist or architect designs a work for a site they choose themselves in the landscape, so the trail keeps growing with new installations. It now includes more than forty works: sculptures, installations and architectural projects.

These include Andy Goldsworthy's Oak Room, Tadao Ando's Four Cubes to Contemplate Our Environment, an exhibition pavilion by Renzo Piano and the auditorium by Oscar Niemeyer, as well as works by Sophie Calle, Frank Gehry, Tracey Emin, Louise Bourgeois and Alexander Calder. The art centre designed by Tadao Ando houses a bookshop, and several galleries on the estate present temporary exhibitions, included in the trail ticket.
