About the museum

The Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez is a private initiative for artistic patronage, established as a fonds de dotation (endowment fund). It rests on Bernard Magrez’s wish to share his love of art and make contemporary art more accessible. Since 2011, the institute has hosted cultural events in the Château Labottière, a neoclassical 18th-century mansion in the centre of Bordeaux, as well as in the Pavillon La Boétie, the Galerie de l’Institut and the French-style gardens.

The institute supports creation and artists. It owns a collection of more than 500 modern and contemporary works of art. It has presented exhibitions by French and international artists, including the graffiti artist JonOne, who returned to the château in 2025, and has organised lectures called Nuits du Savoir as well as concerts.

According to its official website, the institute is closed to the public for renovation works, until the end of 2025 according to the latest announcement. No exhibition or event is currently scheduled and no reopening date has been published. The premises remain available for hire for private and professional events.
