About the museum

The Maison des Jeux Bretons opened in 2006 as a joint initiative of the municipality of Saint-Jean-Trolimon and the association “la Galoche Trolimonaise”. Its aims are to preserve, promote and pass on the practice of traditional games to new generations, and to show another side of Breton culture and heritage.

There are no long texts or conventional tours here: visitors discover the games by playing them. They test their skill at skittles, bowls and palets, such as the birinig, the boultenn or palets on a board. The indoor area covers 300 m², and other games are offered outdoors in summer, depending on the weather.

The house welcomes individuals and groups all year round; groups can also take part in a tournament led by a facilitator. For its twentieth anniversary, it was renovated and then celebrated with a festive jubilee day.
