About the museum

The Musée archéologique de Fréjus occupies rooms in the city’s episcopal complex. It brings together the main finds from excavations in Fréjus since the 19th century: statuary, monument decorations and mosaics.

The city, nicknamed the “Pompeii of Provence”, preserves many remains from the Roman period. The route tells the story of the ancient city of Forum Iulii, with a large model of the forum at the entrance, and displays funerary objects from the necropolises.
