About the museum
The Musée de l’Artillerie was created within the École d’application de l’artillerie, where it brought together national collections that had until then been scattered. It is located in the Écoles militaires de Draguignan and opened in 1982. Initially intended for training artillerymen, it has long been open to the general public and has carried the Musée de France label since 2006.
Renovated in 2013, its permanent route traces about 700 years of human, technical and tactical artillery history, showing the link between a nation in formation and a military tool in constant evolution. The museum welcomes school groups, from primary school to high school, and offers an educational booklet for children. Temporary exhibitions are held every summer.
