About the museum
The museum was founded in 1979 by the AHA, the Association d'horlogerie aliermontaise, which had begun collecting objects linked to the watchmaking history of Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont. In 2007 the association gave its collection to the town, which has owned it ever since. The association continues to support the museum through acquisitions, research and outreach activities.
The route traces the history of local watchmaking from the early 18th century to the present, through more than 400 objects, machines, tools and documents. A temporary exhibition and the watchmakers' workshop complement the visit: association volunteers repair pieces in the museum on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and all day on Thursday.
The museum holds the “Musée de France” label and is intended for families, groups, school classes and people with disabilities.
