About the museum
The Musée Maritime presents the Mont-Saint-Michel bay: its great tides, its quicksand, its local species and the way people have adapted to this environment. It uses models, experiments and animations.
The route also covers the history of the Mont and the project to restore its maritime character, which has allowed it to become an island again thanks to the desanding of the bay. A collection of 250 old ship models complements the visit.
The museum is also listed under the name Musée de la Mer et de l’Écologie. Together with the Musée Historique, it is part of a 4-museum pass.
