About the museum
The Musée Historique traces the history of Mont-Saint-Michel, from its religious origins to its role as a prison during the Revolution. It is located on Mont-Saint-Michel itself.
The route presents antique weapons, instruments of torture, statues, manuscripts and reconstructed cells. Among its curiosities is a 14th-century periscope that offers a view of the sea and much of the bay. According to the tourist office, the visit covers about a thousand years of history, including the monks who built the abbey and the prisons of the Mont.
The museum is part of the Pass 4 musées, a combined ticket that also includes the Musée Maritime.
