About the museum
The Musée de la Résistance en Argoat is located in the heart of the Coatmallouen forest, in Saint-Connan, on the site of the Plésidy maquis. It is part of the Étang-Neuf complex, which also includes the Livandour gallery, a painting studio and a fishing hub.
The Coatmallouen maquis formed in June 1944 in the Guingamp area; a base was set up in the woods in early July. A memorial stele was erected at the site of the fighting on August 5, 1945.
The permanent exhibition traces the Occupation, forms of resistance, the maquis and their allies, the Plésidy maquis and the Liberation in western Côtes-d’Armor. The route gives a large place to audiovisual media and presents photographs, documents, period objects and testimonies across five exhibition spaces and a screening room.
