About the museum
The museum was founded in 1954 by three former resistance fighters, Louis Villanova, Marcel Daguzan and Louis Leroy, and was officially inaugurated in October 1975. Since 2023 it has occupied a new, modern space in the historic centre of Auch, on the Place des Carmélites.
The collection of around 700 objects and documents, including photographs, covers the Resistance and deportation in Gers. The route follows the history of the Resistance in chronological order, from its beginnings to the Liberation.
Visitors can see helmets, rifles, deportee clothing, flags, sabotage and propaganda material, as well as mannequins in uniform. The displayed items include the kepi of Maurice Parisot, commander of the Bataillon de l’Armagnac, and the story of George Starr, known as Hilaire.
