About the museum

The Musée de la Résistance nationale is an association-run museum devoted to passing on the memory and values of the Resistance. Since 1965, donations of archives and objects have enriched its collection, which is studied and presented thanks to volunteers and patrons.

It is housed in Champigny-sur-Marne, on the banks of the Marne, in the Espace Aimé Césaire, a building made available by the Val-de-Marne departmental council. It is close to the RER A station and will be connected to the future Champigny Centre station on Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express.

The permanent exhibition, spread over two levels, is built around significant works and life stories. It tells the story of the Resistance in France and its legacy under the title “la Liberté en héritage”. A catalogue published in December 2025 presents it through more than 250 documents.

The collections include in particular the underground press, memorabilia of the Resistance, and the photographic archive of the newspaper Le Matin. A conservation and consultation centre, the Espace Jean-Louis Crémieux-Brilhac, holds the archives.
