About the museum
The wine museum was set up in the 1990s by several local enthusiasts: Gérard Petit, Patrice Ladurelle and Jacques Robert. They assembled collections from local heritage and numerous donations.
The first room displays tools, machines and objects related to winegrowing: wine presses, models, grafting knives, stencils for marking barrels, ploughs, saws, gouges and scales. It relates to the theme of the press house across the street.
The second room presents traditional rural life around an early 20th-century wooden bandstand. It includes a reconstructed classroom, some instruments of the municipal brass band, a mid-19th-century fire engine, the church clock and a former grocery shop.
Below these rooms, a 12th-century cellar of around 80 m² opens onto underground galleries that run beneath the Rue Vildieu. The neighbouring press, of medieval type, dates from the 17th century and was last used for the 1924 grape harvest. Since 2021, the commune has been preparing a comprehensive redesign of the collections in renovated buildings.
