About the museum
In 2010 the commune of Saint-Frajou received thirty paintings by the artist Ksenia Milicevic as a gift. Mayor Georges Tomasi presented the project in the municipal bulletin of August 2010: the commune wanted to make these works accessible to as many people as possible, and decided to create a municipal painting museum.
The museum occupies the former municipal school, built at the beginning of the 20th century at the entrance to the village on the D 52 road. The building was chosen because it is easy to reach and there is a car park opposite. The layout keeps its original form, with contemporary display fixtures inside.
The permanent collection brings together the thirty paintings by Ksenia Milicevic, and a second collection of works by contemporary artists is being assembled. Since 2019, a permanent gallery has shown children’s paintings from 35 countries, drawn from the International Children’s Painting Biennial, held since 2012. In 2020 the museum formed a partnership with Les Abattoirs, the modern and contemporary art museum in Toulouse.
