About the museum

The Musée du Vignoble Nantais is in Le Pallet, in Loire-Atlantique. Since 1995 it has presented the history, skills and winegrowing traditions of the Pays du Vignoble Nantais. The building, erected the same year, is the work of architect Jean-Claude Pondevie: contemporary in style, it blends into the landscape with a flat roof, large glass bays and stone walls that recall the old houses of the village centre.

Across nearly 1,000 m², more than 500 objects from the 19th century to the present tell two centuries of wine history: wine presses, labels, pruning tools, old vats and laboratory equipment. The route follows the work in the vineyard through the seasons, mechanization, the grape harvest, then winemaking and marketing. The region's first straddle tractor (tracteur enjambeur), built in 1950, is among the pieces on show.

Outside, a grape variety collection (conservatoire des cépages) complements the visit. The museum welcomes both self-guided and guided visits.
