About the museum
The MIAM was founded in 2000 by Hervé Di Rosa and Bernard Belluc and opened to the public that November. It is housed in a former wine cellar on the Quai Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, converted into a museum by the architect Patrick Bouchain.
The collections bring together the holdings assembled by the founders: thousands of “arts modestes” objects, mainly toys, figurines and gadgets, close to the fringes of outsider art, naive art and folk art. The museum also owns works made at its request.
The museum offers guided tours, including the “Vitrines Modestes” tours with Bernard Belluc, and a digital audio guide in the form of an app. Its education service, La petite épicerie du MIAM, runs workshops for children and families, and the museum holds the Famille Plus label.
